So if you have come and gone from Windhelm four times and have then returned for a fifth time, and the quest never 'popped', then I doubt it ever will. But it seems, from all that I've read, that peeps either have the quest trigger as its suppose to, or they don't. I thought I had discovered the consistent variable related to the glitch, but feedback on this thread is suggesting not so much. Triggering Blood on the Ice is most certainly glitched. So if I finished the civil war quests and sided with the empire, will the quest not trigger for me.? I can't seem to figure it out and i'm not finding anything finite on the internets to help me. Every time I returned to Windhelm, day or night, the murder scene was still there in the graveyard waiting for me. During that time I did two quick kill the bandits quests, a lot of traveling, some sleeping, and a whole lot of waiting.

Instead I forced the passing of 32 additional game-days. I took one of my 'empire' saves, triggered the murder scene, but did not interact with it. Once triggered, it seems pretty persistent. Second Edit: For those who think they might have just missed the murder scene, that is, the quest was triggered and the murder scene did occur, but they simply missed it because they did not pass through the graveyard or whatever. If you followed the Stormcloak out of Helgen, then that house will be Hod and Gerdur's House, the one with the ox in the front yard. If you followed the Empire guy, then that house will be the Blacksmith's place, Alvor and Sigrid's House. Go to Riverwood and see which of these two homes you can remove stuff from without stealing. or at least once you make it out and you get the Join the Stormcloaks or Join the Empire quests.Д®dit: If you are unsure which one you followed (stormcloak vs. Well, that alliance, be it not permanent, gets flagged one way or the other right there in Helgen.

I came to this idea and began testing it after having read stuff on other forums where PC players were doing console commands and such, and someone said it seemed the glitch was tied to one's civil-war alliance. But if this turns out to be right, at least until it gets patched, this might help a lot of peeps get that nice Windhelm house. If I'm wrong, let's say so quickly (and nicely ) and bury this thread. those that followed the stormcloak guy never did. those characters that had followed the empire guy triggered the murder scene right off. Did the coming and going thing four times and returning at night thing. hadn't even given the beggar a single Septium. They were level two and had only completed the Unbound quest and nothing more. The last three characters (1 stormcloak, 2 empire) went straight to Windhelm. Three times following the Stormcloak guy, three times following the Empire guy, and the results have been consistent. But I've tested this now with six different characters. If you follow the Empire guy out, Blood on the Ice quest triggers like its suppose to.Дoesn't seem possible, or at least very unlikely. She just says one line about the butcher and moves on.Right at the beginning of the the game If you follow the Stromcloak guy out of Helgen, the Blood on the Ice quest will never trigger. So, does somebody know any help how I can progress? I also reloaded the game to a point when I already spoke with the witnesses but not already to Jorleif, but that did not change anything. The quest progress is still showing to 'Look for clues' and neither Jorleif nor the other two have a conversation option regarding the quest.

I am stuck at the quest 'Blood on the Ice'.
